A Complete Guide to Packing for a Vacation

Ah, packing for a trip! That delightful blend of thrill and chaos turns even the most organized person into a whirlwind of clothes, snacks, and dread. Let’s dive into the absurdity of packing, shall we? Start by remembering why you go on vacation. You go on vacation to escape the things that make your life tiring, so take a good look at what you take with you and what you bring back. Below is an example of overpacking.

  • Five outfits for each temperature. You never know when a Polar Vortex will hit.

  • The flashy outfits you would never have the nerve to wear at home.

  • One or two fancy outfits if you go clubbing, but you will never get off the beach.

  • Three swimsuits ( different styles).

  • A purse for every outfit.

  • Seven pairs of sunglasses.

  • An umbrella or two.

  • Two flashlights.

  • The four books you have been meaning to read.

  • The almost empty diary, and it will come home that way.

  • Bags of different snacks.

All this and you wonder why you come home tired. If you take it all with you, you might just as well not go. Since you have it all packed, send the stuff on vacation, and you will have a better time! If you de-junk your travels, you can eliminate packing medicine for all the things your extra stuff creates, like:

  • Backaches ( you will have a lighter load).

  • Headaches ( you won’t be thinking of junk).

  • Sore feet ( You won’t be searching for junk).

    Here are a few tips:

  • Almost anything can be replaced except eyeglasses. There will be a dry cleaner or a laundromat, so lighten your load. Don’t pack food; there is nowhere in the world you can go that will not have food. The last tip is to pack your suitcase and carry or roll it for two blocks, then start eliminating. And please don’t take an extra bag for all the souvenirs you plan on buying, unless you have decided to run a thrift store.

Laugh at the absurdity of the process, embrace the chaos, and enjoy your vacation, because you deserve it after all that packing. Safe travels!
